well, i was supposed to have sent out a newsletter before debut day, but, well, here we are.
anyway, i had a lovely debut week! i got to chat with one of my favorite authors, shannon chakraborty, for my launch event, which was hosted by astoria bookshop, my hometown bookshop. if you missed this event, you can watch it here on their youtube channel.
my next event is actually in-person! i’m participating in books & burlesque, which is a burlesque/drag show where authors read a little bit from their books and then a performer performs something inspired by the book. i have never attended a burlesque/drag event before and i am very excited! this is happening in nyc, 21 clinton street in manhattan, on sat march 11 at 9pm. tickets are $25 online, $30 at the door, and $10 to join the livestream.
the daughters of izdihar is now available for purchase from wherever books are sold. however, while the harpercollins union strike is ongoing, do consider buying from their bookshop page. you can find more info on the strike (which is on day 48!!!) here.
other things:
i did a podcast interview with new books network which is now available for listening. the questions were pretty meaty and i had a great time answering them, so check that out if you’re interested!
currengly obessing over big sky, which is a crime drama type show airing on abc. i’ve enjoyed it since season 1, but in season 3 JENSEN ACKLES became a series regular and he is, unsurprisingly, amazing. he’s basically playing another universe version of dean winchester, you know, without the demons and trauma, so i couldn’t ask for more. anyway, now i really, really wanna visit montana.
i really love media analysis and i love friendly space ninja’s youtube channel so of course i enjoyed watching their top 10 worst and top 10 best tv shows of 2022, highly recommend! (sidenote, they refer to house of the dragon’s alicent hightower as “the most morally complex and intriguing character we’ve seen on tv in a long time” and they’re SO RIGHT)
i am!!! so close!!! to finishing my second book, the sequel to the daughters of izdihar, which currently does not have a title. i can see the light. i can almost taste my freedom. i’ve been working on this thing since 2021, somehow (how??). the expectation is that it’ll be published in jan 2024, but…don’t hold me to that lol. but on that note, i should go work on that.
thanks for reading!
ohhh i'm legit going to try to come down for the NYC event 👀
